Amy Barrett, President Trump's nomination to fill the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat, is a champion of the right to life. Her ideology is demonstrated in her decisions while on the bench of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, through her seven biological and adoptive children, and even by her membership in the University Faculty for Life group at Notre Dame while she was a professor there. She believes that life begins at conception and has ruled three times in favor of pro-life protections while on the 7th Circuit bench. Barrett is a constitutional originalist, meaning she does not legislate from the bench or politicize the court.
The Senate must act quickly and decisively on Barrett's confirmation. Her confirmation process will certainly get even more disparaging. Pro-choice advocates are looking for any reason to degrade her character, spread lies, and ensure she does not threaten their right to kill their children. Her religion and standard of mortality should not be used to disqualify her from office. In fact, Amy Coney Barrett is exactly the woman we need on our Supreme Court.
Democrats are making excuses to delay Barrett's confirmation, saying that a President should not have the right to nominate a judicial appointment in an election year, but Presidents have nominated Supreme Court justices 29 times in election years. Precedent and the American people say #confirmAMY.
